Exploring an Bizarre Steam Demo: Guiding a Poop in a Mission to Reach the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is now live, and gamers have discovered plenty of interesting independent titles. But, one catches the eye for its quirky concept. Named Unko Technica, this classic-feel jumping adventure features a hero that is actually a turd attempting to make its way to a toilet. In case you're wondering, "Unko" means "poop."

How you interact is simple: you only need a one button to leap. Throughout numerous stages, battle mini-bosses and unlock a shop to buy customizations for your poop character.

Execute your movements with caution, as a error means restarting the level. Bounce using bubbles to launch yourself to new heights, traverse crumbling ledges, and activate triggers to unlock new areas. Collect currency to purchase challenging game content as gameplay intensifies.

In terms of design, the demo features eye-catching stages and an amazing background music. The retro art featuring moving abstract forms evokes memories of players of old favorites like Earthbound.

While it's difficult to recall previous releases where you are a coiled turd, interactive entertainment frequently incorporated fecal matter. For instance, in Death Stranding, players create grenades from character waste. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize dung as soil enrichment. Naturally, fecal references appears heavily in the adventure The Stick of Truth.

Putting aside its silly idea, Unko Technica has already earned significant accolades, including being named best at a major publisher's indie contest in 2023. This trial version is available currently on Steam, with the full game set to launch on computers on November 19.
