Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Fatal Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos confirmed on late Wednesday. The fighter was caught in a vehicular crash outside Lagos on Monday, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Healing from Light Wounds
The sports star had been receiving medical attention while healing from his light wounds, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.
“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.
Remembering the Victims
The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the champion was filled with sorrow and full of emotions over the loss of his two trusted companions.”
