A Heap of Anime Updates Dropped During the Festive Season

The Yuletide season provide a wealth of activities much better than catching up on the updates: opening presents, indulging in delicious food, and harnessing patience techniques to avoid arguing with relatives. It is wished you were able to enjoy all these things and more. Nevertheless, the entertainment world doesn't go on vacation, and this is especially true for the realm of anime. Many noteworthy developments surfaced over the break, and if you missed a few, here is a compilation of the juiciest bits.

The One-Punch Man Series Season 3 Is Moving Forward (In 2027)

Truly the most shocking announcement, the notorious controversial season that was the third season of One-Punch Man failed to deter the series' continuation. Season 3 will be back with a subsequent part in 2027—a date so remote they might as well have labeled it season 4. Even more shocking, the studio J.C. Staff will continue to be in charge. On a positive note this time, director Shinpei Nagai is on board to direct from the beginning, which could be taken as a good sign. But, the main art for the new episodes is a mirror of the one used for season 3, just with characters Saitama and Garou facing different directions. This suggests that, at this point, they could be mocking the fans.

Ruri Dragon Will Be the First Shonen Jump Anime From Kyoto Animation

Kyoto Animation has forged a standing for being an elite animation studio, making its mark not just for the exceptional quality of its output but for the good working conditions of its employees—a rarity in the industry. Unexpectedly, until now, it had never worked on an anime based on a manga published in Shonen Jump, arguably the most famous magazine in the field. Ruri Dragon will change that, and what a superb choice it is. The manga by Masaoki Shindo became a huge following when it debuted in 2022 after just a handful of installments, but then went into a two-year hiatus due to the mangaka's health issues. When it came back with a reduced workload, the series demonstrated it still retained the fans' affection and positive sentiment, and now the community is overjoyed about the forthcoming KyoAni adaptation.

The Kingdom Series Season 6 Will Get a Sequel In Production

Kingdom is the highly popular, long-running Shueisha manga that is other than One Piece. If you've never heard of it before, it's because it only fairly recently obtained an English translation, but the anime has been airing for years, and its sixth season was yet another excellent entry. As it happens that was just the first half, because a "sequel" has been confirmed as in production, and it will probably air in 2026.

Science Saru Is Adapting A Witch in Mongolia Into an Anime Series

Another studio renowned for the excellent quality of its projects, Science Saru has given us critically acclaimed works of the caliber of Space Dandy, Devilman Crybaby, and, most recently, Dandadan. This time, the studio will be taking on the adaptation of Tomato Soup's manga A Witch's Life in Mongol, inspired by the real historical figure of Fatima, an prominent woman and intellectual in the Mongol Empire in the 13th century. From the trailer, the anime titled Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia will have a truly original and fascinating visual style, which evokes Ranking of Kings. Set to premiere in July 2026, this one will definitely be on my must-watch list.
